Open source
search.co is open source.
The code that runs the hosted service is published under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 (AGPL-3.0). You can read it, run it, change it and share it.
Last updated: November 2, 2026
What you can do
- Use it. Run search.coon your own computer or servers, for yourself or your company, for free. Bring your own DataForSEO login and, for AI features, your own AI provider keys. There's no billing when you self-host.
- Change it. Modify the code however you like.
- Fork it. You have the right to fork search.co: copy the code into your own project and develop it independently, including running it as a service for others.
- Share it. Give copies to others, changed or unchanged.
What the AGPL asks in return
This is a plain-language summary, not the license. The full AGPL-3.0 text is what applies.
- Keep it open. If you share the code or a modified version, share it under the same license, with its source code, and keep the copyright and license notices.
- Network use counts. If you change the code and let other people use your version over a network, for example as a website or SaaS, offer those users the source code of the version you run, for free. A "Source code" link to a public repository is the usual way, and the app has a setting for it.
- No extra restrictions. You can't add terms that take away the rights the AGPL gives others.
- No warranty. The code comes as is.
Running an unmodified copy for yourself, or using it privately inside your organization, doesn't require you to publish anything.
The name and logo aren't part of the license
The AGPL covers the code, not the search.co name or logo. A fork offered to others needs its own name and logo, and mustn't suggest it's search.co or endorsed by us.
Hosted search.co
If you'd rather not run it yourself, the hosted service is $20 a month with a 7-day free trial. It includes hosting, updates, backups, data provider access and support. Self-hosted and hosted search.co run the same code. See pricing.

Contributing
Contributions are welcome through the public repository. We ask contributors to sign a Contributor License Agreement, which lets us keep offering search.co under the AGPL and other licenses while contributors keep the copyright in their work.
